Useless waymark post laying in the hedge

The inspectors who work for Leicestershire County Council can’t make regular inspections of all the paths in the county. It is inevitable that things wear out or problems crop up. With LFA groups out walking the paths four days each week we can be the first to spot a problem. It is not only in our own interest that we report issues of safety but we can do a service for others who use the paths.

Here is an example of a recent report  submitted to LCC of problems found during a 7 mile walk from Croxton Kerrial. The County Council staff welcome a picture of the problem, a selection of those submitted are reproduced here, click on the picture to enlarge the image.

At SK 83292 27882 the waymark post needs resetting in the ground.

Crossing boggy ground - safety improvement needed

Crossing boggy ground – safety improvement needed

At the available stream crossing at SK 82350 28060, which has always been boggy the extended ditch boards are tilting, perhaps caused of recent floods. On the day of my walk they were also frosty so very difficult to use without slipping.

The stile at SK 82320 28070 is rather narrow and the adjacent gate post has a long bolt (highlighted by a red star in the picture) protruding, this is a hazard.

The kissing gate at SK 82050 27992 has a striking post which is rotten and the fence is leaning.

Additional fence erected blocking path

Additional fence erected blocking path

At SK 81375 28655 between an existing stile and ditch crossing an additional fence has been erected, blocking the line of the path.

At SK 81140 29080 the insulated electric cable across a stile was coiled on the ground and created a significant tripping hazard.

Sadly over the years things have got progressively worse at SK 81095 29177. This was once a well maintained tarmac village path with the wonderful attraction of the old village pump. The culvert is now partially blocked and the area is a wet mess. Can we have some improvement please.
