I’m not sure that you are aware but the links between the LFA and the LOROS Coast to Coast Walk team recently passed the 10 year mark with an estimated £50,000 being raised by LFA members throughout this time.

The first LOROS Wainwright Coast to Coast Walk was led by LFA member Fred P in May 2002 and subsequent groups followed over the years to raise well over £150,000 in total. The funds raised are used to help LOROS to continue to provide its valuable services and care of patients and their families. In any one year over 2,500 patients access our services which are provided free of charge thanks to the support of the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

The relationship between our organisations has continued through the years with members such as Roger C, who has driven the minibus as backup on a couple of occasions and has actively organised some of the training walks for various groups over the years.

In September I will be leading my 8th Coast to Coast Walk, which will include at least three LFA walkers, and I hope your fellow members will support them with sponsorship and encouragement to enable them to complete the 192 mile route. I wish you all a happy and healthy 2012 and look forward to continuing this valued relationship.

Yours sincerely
Adrian Walker
