Walk from Rothwell

Saturday 15th October 2011

Fifteen members and friends enjoyed the walk from Rothwell on a lovely Saturday in mid October. We met in the village of Thorpe Malsor where we met an itinerant knife sharpener with his mobile workshop.

The walk took us close to Thorpe Malsor reservoir, Cransley Reservoir.  Lunch was enjoyed at the “Hare” public house at Loddington.

We then proceeded to the village of Orton and the church door was opened for us.  The church is now a trust and stone masons learn their trade within.  The third picture I took was of an effigy which the stone masons had sculptured – who could this be?

The last photograph is of our party of walkers outside Orton church enjoying what was a wonderful day.
